What happens when you’re stalked by Death? You fall in love with him, of course.
Pagan Moore doesn’t cheat Death, but instead, falls in love with him.
Seventeen year old Pagan Moore has seen souls her entire life. Once she realized the strangers she often saw walking through walls were not visible to anyone else, she started ignoring them. If she didn’t let them know she could see them, then they left her alone. Until she stepped out of her car the first day of school and saw an incredibly sexy guy lounging on a picnic table, watching her with an amused smirk on his face. Problem is, she knows he’s dead.
Not only does he not go away when she ignores him, but he does something none of the others have ever done. He speaks. Pagan is fascinated by the soul. What she doesn’t realize is that her appointed time to die is drawing near and the wickedly beautiful soul she is falling in love with is not a soul at all.
He is Death and he’s about to break all the rules.

This book is one of my absolute favourites! I read Existence quite a while ago now and every time I re-read it, I still marvel at how much I love it. I usually don’t read books that are under 300 pages because I feel it goes too fast and you don’t get to enjoy the story long enough. But I everything about this book screamed at me to read it and so I did and it was one of the best decisions involving books I have made. I have read a couple of books by Abbi Glines and I absolutely love her writing and plots and characters.
I love the paranormal and creepy things and so I thought it was pretty cool that Pagan could see souls, although I guess it would be annoying and maybe a bit too creepy after a while. Pagan is a really strong character and considering she hasn’t gone crazy seeing spirits her whole life, she is pretty strong emotionally as well. Although I think she was pretty dumb getting in a car while she was a complete emotional mess because obviously your going to be a bit wild and reckless driving if your upset. And she didn’t stop at the stop sign *shakes head* so it’s kinda her fault that she died. But lucky for her, her new ‘soul’ buddy isn’t actually a soul and brings her back to life. She was kinda a jerk at the beginning but I feel her character improved and grew a lot during the book.
I love that Dank is Death. It makes the story so much more interesting and compelling to read. He has lived an eternity in loneliness and having to bring people to their death can’t have been a very enjoyable existence. So I’m happy he has finally found someone worth living for. Though he brings Pagan close, he always pushes her away because he knows that there would be no happy ending for the two of them. Although, Pagan has different ideas and won’t let him push her away (you go girl!). He is always there to protect her and keep her from harm and I love it when he stays with her at night and sings her to sleep *cries tears of joy*. The lyrics to his songs are so emotional and he is basically telling her why they can’t be together but she doesn’t understand the meaning until the very end. I LOVE Pagan and Dank together and I love how they will protect each other at any cost, literally! OTP right here folks.
Lets talk about Leif. Leif really annoyed me. He was always getting in the way of Pagan and Dank being together and I just wanted to slap him. And he acts like such a great, kind and genuine guy which makes me what to slap him even harder. I was silently crying the whole time Pagan and Leif were together because DANK! She would go out with Leif during the day but had Dank singing in her bedroom at night. That is just wrong and it frustrated me because it was so obvious that she was in love with Dank the whole time, yet she decided to keep dating Leif? But all is well because the ending made me very happy.
And lets talk about the cover! I freaking love this book cover but to be honest it’s probably because it has Pepe Toth on it! But it looks so mysterious and cool and I was so upset when they changed the cover because the new one is so disappointing! And it makes it look less paranormal and more sexual which annoyed me because if I looked at it I wouldn’t think it was a YA paranormal book. And plus its like a PG rated book so please don’t put a shirtless guy and what looks like a shirtless girl on the cover. Thanks.
I seriously loved this book and I recommend it so much. I’m sad that I can’t find anywhere to buy it in physical copy because I want to hold it and put it on my bookshelf!

“He frowned.”You’re not very friendly.”
I let out a short laugh.”What?I’m not friendly to a ghost who floats into my house and starts touching me?Well, excuse my rudeness but this is a little disturbing.”
“The emptiness where I used pain to fill the hole no longer controls me, no longer calls me because of you.”
“You’re the only thing I want most in the world yet the one thing I cannot have. Because to have you completely would be impossible. You cannot go where I walk.”
“He was so good and honest. Why couldn’t I love him instead?”
“One day, the right guy will come along and you’ll be so swept away, you won’t be able to see straight. Enjoy the others until then.”
“Yet you stay. Holding onto me, yet you stay, reaching out a hand that I pushed away. Yet you stay. When I know it’s not right for you. Yet you stay.”
